With the addition of my jacket last night wasnt too bad with quite a lot of sleep and loads of weird dreams. Got going by 1030 into another lovely day.
Today felt a lot longer than 18 km. We walked the old railline with hundreds of dog walkers as far as Eccles. Then entered Salford, ugly to begin with but MediaCity looks swank with its Coronation Street, Blue Peter and BBC Sports clearly made there.
Across the manchester ship canal to Old Trafford, which had plenty of people around it despite no football today.
And then it went wrong. We walked down the canal towards town and then found it blocked off and had to return all the way to the football ground to try a different route.
The new route involved an ugly walk down the side of the busy A56.
Eventually hit town, very busy, and stopped for a greggs pasty and coffee as i started to get faint.
Hotel not far now and surprisingly nice for its £31 right in the centre of the city. Massive though. Room even had a bath.
Back to Dave waiting patiently outside and then to wetherspoons. Couple of pints and dave had a huge burger. Then he was off to cycle onwards back home. I returned to wetherspoons later to spend the £10 donated by Paul and Danielle specifically for this purpose. I had another failsafe pizza.
Back to room, long soak in bath, 2 cups of tea. Feet feel sore. Booked another night here to give them time to rest. The daily budget is blown but that was to be expected in uk. Hopefully a proper sleep tonight and then a busy day tomorrow with a blog to write, soltalk’s article and finish another video. Hopefully find time to have a look around the centre. It seems much nicer than I remember it from the 90s.
Distance today (km) 18, total 161.4
